Bokeh & Emboss Resist Techniques

February 23, 2015

Two different techniques for the other two cards from my January class!

I first saw the Bokeh Technique here on Dawn Olchefske’s blog and thought it would make a great background for the beautiful new butterfly thinlits from the Occasions catalogue:

Card: Whisper White, Elegant Eggplant, Perfect Plum, Brushed Gold
Stamp Pads: Marina Mist, Elegant Eggplant, Whisper White Craft
Stamps: Butterfly Basics
Punches: 1 1/4″ circle, 1″ circle, 3/4″ circle, 1/2″ circle
Other: Thinlits – Butterflies, window sheet

The second card uses the emboss resist technique:

Card: Whisper White, Melon Mambo
Stamp Pads: Pink Pirouette, Melon Mambo, Rose Red, Versamark
Stamps: Flowering Flourishes, Butterfly Basics
Other: Decorative Label punch, clear embossing powder

Anyone for Tea?

February 10, 2014

This card was inspired by a one I saw on the internet ages ago, but couldn’t find again (sorry I am unable to credit the original poster), so made my own template and used it originally for a friend’s birthday card a year ago.

This is the recent class card we made:

The ‘lid’ pulls up to reveal a message – you could also attach a tea bag:

Card: Whisper White
Stamp Pads: Pacific Point
Stamps: Flowering Flourishes

This was my original card, using the now retired Elements of Style stamp set and a little gold embossing:

Papillon Potpourri

November 11, 2012

I used Stampin’ Write markers and a stamp from the Flowering Flourishes set to create a DSP look on this card. The butterflies were stamped in Midnight Muse and I just pulled a little colour from the outline with an aqua painter.

Card: Whisper White, Midnight Muse
Stamp Pads: Midnight Muse, Cajun Craze, Summer Starfruit, Pool Party
Stamps: Papillon Potpourri, Flowering Flourishes, Tea Shoppe
Punches: Elegant Butterfly, Word Window, Modern Label
Other: Fancy Fan embossing folder, aqua painter, dimensionals
