Scallop Circle Purse Tutorial

Scallop Circle Purse

I used:

Card: Kraft, Soft Suede, Very Vanilla, Kiwi Kiss
Stamp Pads: Sahara Sand, Pretty in Pink
Stamps: Vintage Vogue
Other: Big Shot, Scallop Circle Die, Circle Scissor, crop-a-dile, jumbo eyelets, Soft Suede Polka Dot grosgrain ribbon, sticky strip, Crystal Effects, dimensionals, Velcro Dot

Cut cardstock:
– cut 2 pieces, 9cm x 13.4cm from Kraft cardstock (for front and back)
– cut 1 piece 13cm x 17.5cm from Kraft cardstock (for “box”)
– using the Circle Scissor, cut a 10cm circle from Kraft cardstock (for
top flap)
– using the Big Shot and the Scallop Circle die, cut a scallop circle
from Soft Suede cardstock (for top flap)

With short side of cardstock against the base of the cutter, score 2.5cm in from each side.
With long side of cardstock against the base of the cutter, score 7.5cm in from each side.

Cut to make the small tabs, trimming a small wedge off each side (this will help to make the box fit together)

Place sticky strip on small tabs, adhere to “back” side tabs

Place sticky strip on remaining two “front” side tabs and adhere to “back” side tabs

This is what it should look like now:

Purse Front and Back:
On each of the cardstock pieces, mark 1.2cm in from each end on one long side.
Rule a line down from this mark to the base and trim with cutter or scissors.

Use scissors to round the bottom corners.
Stamp image (from Vintage Vogue set) in Sahara Sand on both front and back.

Attach box to purse front and purse back using sticky strip

Purse Flap:
On Soft Suede scallop circle, score 1 1/4cm on either side of centre then crease with a bone folder
(I lined mine up so that there was a full scallop in the centre, then scored about ¾ through the scallop on either side – hopefully the close-up photo shows what I mean)

Place the Kraft circle over the Soft Suede scallop circle and mark the scoring lines, then score. Attach using sticky strip, starting in the middle section.

Using the crop-a-dile, punch a hole in from each end of the purse flap.
Set jumbo eyelets in the holes, using the crop-a-dile.

Cut desired length of Soft Suede Polka Dot Ribbon (I used about 20cm).
Thread each end through and tape down underneath with a little sticky strip.

I like to cover the underneath with a strip of matching card, cut a little narrower and a little shorter

Place sticky strip on the underneath of one side of the flap and adhere to the purse back.
Place half a Velcro Dot underneath the front flap; peel backing off the Velcro and close flap to adhere to purse front.

Stamp flower from Vintage Vogue on Very Vanilla cardstock using Regal Rose ink and cut out, leaving a narrow border.
Hand cut a small circle from a scrap of Kiwi Kiss cardstock; attach to flower centre. (I inked up the flower stamp with Versamark and stamped onto the scrap – this gave me an outline to cut around!)
Attach flower to front flap with dimensionals

I added a little Crystal Effects to the centre of the flower after I had finished the purse, to give it a shiny raised effect. Because it takes a little while to dry, I prefer to add it last, keeping it flat to dry.

Hope you have enjoyed this tutorial.
